The Only ‘Destiny 2’ Weapon You Should Farm For Lightfall

While there are still plenty of sandbox changes to be announced as Destiny 2 prepares for its next expansion, Lightfall, the recent reveal on armor and building developments still gave us a way forward. in some areas.

In particular, there was a whole section on how champion combat will change in the future, not only creating permanent perks for anti-artifact champion mods, but giving subclass verbs the ability to disrupt champions natively.

This all led to what I would say is the holy grail of all anti-champion weapons, as far as we know, except for any secret nerfs. That would be Riptide, the rapid-fire Fusion Rifle that is a dedicated Crucible drop, and can now be focused on Shaxx for 25 Legendary Shards and an Engram.

Specifically, a Chill Clip Riptide. Yeah that technically applies to other Chill Clip stasis fusions like Vow’s Deliverance or this new world this season that I can’t remember the name of but because Riptide is fast fire it’s slow and freezing, and as such, faster disruption.

In fact, a Riptide Chill Clip, in theory, should be able to stun the three types of champions when run on a solar subclass. Chill Clip alone can stun two out of three without Solar. Here is what happens:

  • Any weapon can pierce a Barrier Champion’s shield while radiant. It’s pretty easy to get radiant, so that applies to our friend Riptide here, just like it does anything else.
  • Overload champions can be stunned by slowing them with stasis. The first hit of a Chill Clip fusion will slow enemies, so in theory it should be an instant stun.
  • Unstoppable champions can be slowed by being frozen and then stasis shattered. Hit an enemy twice with a Chill Clip Riptide, then smash it, and bam, you’re awesome unstoppable champions too.

As far as we know, Bungie continues to not differentiate between the effects of weapon perk subclass verbs and aspect and shard subclass verbs. Freeze is frozen, burn is hot, shake is shake, etc. This means disallowing any nerfs, at least from what we read here a Chill Clip fusion, with Riptide being the best option, easiest to target, should be a killer against two out of three champion types, plus a third with solar’s basic anti-barrier capabilities.

As for your second park, it’s up to you. Gold lead will give you more ammo. I like the autoloading so you can just freeze it and put it away and it’ll be ready to freeze again when you take it out next time because Chill Clip is only for the top of the magazine.

Again, we don’t know what nerfs might come in to affect this. Maybe Bungie realized how strong that would be and is making changes accordingly. But otherwise ? This should, in theory, be a champion-destroying monster. I would take one.
