Bills EVP/COO Ron Raccuia and Bills GM Brandon Beane held a press conference via Zoom Thursday night to discuss the venue change for Sunday’s game and other important matters, including ticket information. Here’s a summarized version of what Raccuia and Beane had to say.
Q: How was the decision made to move the game to Detroit?
Raccuia: “The decision to move the game to Detroit has everything to do with safety. Safety first is what we’ve really been talking about for 48-72 hours. I want to thank Poloncarz County Executive, Governor Hochul, all of our elected officials, certainly (NFL) Commissioner (Rodger) Goodell and all league staff, and the lions organization for their commitment and communication and to help us move the game forward. As I said earlier, our only concern was the safety of our players, our fans, our community, and to make sure that we didn’t misappropriate the resources that the community will need this weekend.”
Q: Will tickets be refunded?
Raccuia: “We’ve actually just sent an email to all existing ticket holders for the game. So our fans will have a refund option, depending on how they purchase their ticket. But I would ask them to check the emails they probably should have gotten about five or 10 minutes ago actually. All of that will be refunded.”
Q: Are tickets transferable for the game being played in Detroit?
Raccuia: “No transfer option. These are actually two separate transactions. Everyone’s tickets will automatically be credited based on how they were purchased. So if they purchased on the Bills online, it will be credited that way, Ticketmaster, that way, subscription members, directly to their subscription account. And the new release will be completely separate from tomorrow. “
Q: What are the team’s travel plans?
Bean : We will try to keep a normal travel schedule. Obviously, we will follow the weather, but at the moment we are preparing a plane to leave on Saturday afternoon. We’ll have to wait to hear from the airline when they can get it here. But we would try to keep it as close to our normal routine as possible. So for now, as long as the weather is what we expect for Sunday, we will be flying after the game. You know the game is going to be at 1, so we can kind of have our normal routine and then get back there on Wednesday.
Q: Are you frustrated with not having a home game?
Bean : Well, I’m counting on you to rally the whole BillsMafia to come forward. Seriously, we hope it will still be an advantage on the pitch away from home. Fortunately, it’s not everywhere in the country. We know that BillsMafia is everywhere, and hopefully those in the Michigan area will definitely be down. And I hope those who want to get out of the snow will go there.
