Movement brews among Peet cafe workers as Davis store first to unionize

Workers at Peet’s Coffee at the West Covell Boulevard location in Davis rallied with supporters outside the nation’s first Peet’s to become a union member. The crowd chanted, “No justice. No Peet’s.” The 1021 Employees International Union spoke at the enthusiastic rally. They explained why they fight for fair wages, different hours and corporate transparency. “It was a moment when I realized how greedy the company was — the audacity to give me 10 cents when it was making $983 million in 2022 was shocking,” Tal said.
