Leaked AMD Ryzen 9 7950X and Ryzen 5 7600X CPU benchmarks, over 30% improvement in single and 40% in multiple threads

AMD’s latest Ryzen 9 7950X and Ryzen 5 7600X CPU SKUs started leaking as soon as the chips were unveiled yesterday. Bench leaks discovered various benchmarks of the 2 chips in the Geekbench 5 database that show impressive single and multi-core performance jumps.

AMD showed off its official performance numbers for the Ryzen 7000 desktop processors in Geekbench 5, but those were only based on single-threaded tests. We can now see single-core and multi-core performance figures. Both CPUs were tested on ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme (Ryzen 9 7950X) and MSI X670E ACE (Ryzen 5 7600X) motherboards with 32GB of DDR5 memory. These are official retail samples, as evidenced by their clock speeds. The 16-core chip ran slightly above a 5.7 GHz boost clock while the 6-core chip ran near 5.4 GHz.

Starting with everyone’s flagship, we have the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X which retains its healthy 16 cores and 32 threads from the previous two generations. The processor will feature an impressive 4.5 GHz base frequency and up to 5.7 GHz boost clock (5.85 GHz F-Max), which should make it 200 MHz faster than the Alder Lake Core i9- 12900KS from Intel which has a boost frequency of 5.5 GHz. on a single core.

It looks like AMD squeezes every ounce of Hertz possible out of that 170W TDP (230W PPT) for Ryzen 9 chips. As for cache, the CPU comes with 80MB of which 64MB is L3 (32MB per CCD) and 16 MB of L2 (1 MB per core). The flagship will retail for US$699, which means it will be priced slightly higher than the Core i9-12900K while delivering a significant performance jump in multi-threaded applications such as Chaos V-Ray of up to +57% and do it with up to 47% more energy efficiency.

AMD Ryzen 5 7600X 6 Core “Zen 4” Desktop Processor

Finally, we have the most economical chip (if you can call it that, but the price won’t reflect that), the Ryzen 5 7600X. It will be a 6-core, 12-thread part with a high base clock of 4.7 GHz and a single-core boost frequency of 5.3 GHz. The processor will also run at a TDP of 105W (142W PPT), which is much higher than its 65W predecessor, but again, that’s the sacrifice you have to pay to achieve clock speeds faster. The CPU will carry 38MB of cache from 32MB of L3 and 6MB of L2 on chip. This chip will be priced at US$299 and will offer a 5% performance boost over the Core i9-12900K in games.


In terms of performance, the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X scored 2217 points in single-core and 24396 points in multi-core while the Ryzen 5 7600X scored 2165 points in single-core and 11432 points in multi-core.








At single-core, the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X processor absolutely demolishes its predecessors with a 31% increase over the Ryzen 9 5950X and also 14% faster performance over the Core i9-12900K. The processor loses 4% compared to the Core i9-13900K, but the Intel chip also operates at a much higher power of up to 350 watts. The Ryzen 5 7600X follows suit, delivering over a 30% boost over the Ryzen 5 5600X and even outperforming the Core i9-12900K.

In multi-threaded tests, both chips have a lead of more than 40% over their predecessors. The Ryzen 9 7950X also ends up 41% faster than the Intel Core i9-12900K and the Ryzen 5 7600X ends up on par with the Intel Core i5-12600K which has more cores and threads. Those are really solid numbers and we can’t wait to see these chips hitting retail on September 27th so users can enjoy huge performance improvements.
