Sylvester Stallone was reportedly “blindsided” by his wife Jennifer Flavin’s divorce filing on August 19, as friends told Page Six how “so happy” they looked together a few weeks ago.
The “Rambo” star filmed his upcoming Paramount Plus series “Tulsa King” in Oklahoma City, and friends said Flavin — his wife of 25 years — was constantly on set.
Sly was in Oklahoma when the paperwork was filed Aug. 18 and sources said he was shocked to hear the news.
“You couldn’t think of a nicer couple…she visited him in Oklahoma City, where he’s filming. It seemed like everything was great. I have no idea what happened,” said one source at Page Six.
In her divorce petition, filed in Palm Beach, Florida, where the couple have a home, Flavin, 54, claimed her husband “engaged in the intentional dissipation, depletion and/or waste of marital assets” – and demanded that Stallone be prohibited from selling or transferring assets during the divorce proceedings.
But a source familiar with the matter said: “It’s so ridiculous, I don’t know why Jennifer’s lawyers put that in the divorce filing, it’s just a complete lie. Sly hasn’t sold as much what a t-shirt!
A rep for Stallone issued a statement to Page Six on his behalf, “I love my family. We address these personal issues in a friendly and private manner.
According to a friend, “Sylvester’s intention was to smooth things over with Jennifer. Now I don’t know [what will happen] because she decided to go public.
TMZ, meanwhile, reported that the couple broke up after a big fight over a dog.
Stallone, 76, reportedly wanted a new Rottweiler as “protection for his family”, but Flavin apparently didn’t want to add another pet.
This reportedly led to “an extremely heated argument which brought up other issues” in their marriage, although those issues were apparently not seen as things they couldn’t work out.
Stallone ended up getting the dog anyway and named him Dwight after the actor’s “Tulsa King” character. He promoted the show on Instagram with a photo of him and Dwight the dog earlier this month.
Meanwhile, it was revealed on Tuesday that tattoo artist Zach Perez posted a now-deleted photo to Instagram showing Stallone getting a tattoo on Flavin’s arm covered with one of the Butkus – the bullmastiff from the ‘Rocky’ movies.
Stallone and Flavin’s daughters – Sophia, 26; Sixtine, 24; and Scarlet, 20 – filmed a reality show together, which their father allegedly helped them get and which is set to debut on Paramount+. But a Hollywood source told Page Six, “Sly got them a reality show, but I don’t know what will happen to it now.”
Other industry insiders said Flavin was not a fan of Sly’s longtime publicist Michelle Bega.
Flavin has requested sole ownership of the $35 million Palm Beach mansion which the couple bought in 2020, paying $5 million down payment.
According to CelebrityNetWorth.com, Stallone is worth $400 million.
“I am sad to report that after 25 years of marriage, I have filed for divorce from my husband Sylvester Stallone. Although we are no longer married, I will always cherish the 30+ year relationship we shared, and I know we are both attached to our beautiful daughters,” Flavin told People in a statement.
His rep did not respond to a request for comment from Page Six.
The couple met at a Beverly Hills restaurant in 1988, when Flavin was a 19-year-old aspiring model and “The Expendables” actor was 42 and twice divorced.
However, their relationship was apparently unconventional. In 1991, Stallone said: “When we come together, it’s wonderful. When we’re apart, there are no strings attached. That’s how it is. No strings.
A year later, Flavin said: “I’m not naive about what can happen when I’m not around – he’s a 45-year-old man – I can’t change the way he is. Still, it’s not a cheating dog every day of the week. We spend five out of seven nights together, so I don’t know where he would find the time.
However, Flavin’s trust was shattered in 1994, when Stallone broke up with her via a letter from FedEx – after model Janice Dickinson, with whom he was having an affair, claimed he was her daughter’s father. A DNA test said otherwise, and Stallone and Flavin patched things up and said “yes” in 1997.
