Abramovich honored to be part of club history, wishes new owners ‘best success’

After three months of uncertainty, Chelsea’s future has become clearer, with the club confirming a “final agreement” to sell to the Boehly-Clearlake Consortium. The deal is expected to close on Monday, ending Roman Abramovich’s 19 years as owner. It’s safe to say that we didn’t expect the end of the Roman era to come in such a way.

Abramovich transformed the club from a good side with aspirations into a great side with relentless ambition, spending over £1bn since 2003 in pursuit of 21 trophies – completing the package with the Club World Cup earlier this year. It wasn’t always easy and it wasn’t always perfect, but in all of this the one thing we could never question was his love for the club.

And that commitment remained to the end, with his last statement as Chelsea owner revealing his confidence to have found the club’s next best goalkeepers.

“It has been almost three months since I announced my intention to sell Chelsea FC. During this time the team has been working hard to find the right goalkeeper for Chelsea FC who would be best placed to successfully lead the Club. to its next chapter.

“Owning this club comes with great responsibility. Since I arrived at Chelsea almost twenty years ago, I have witnessed what this club can achieve. My goal has been to ensure that the next owner has a mindset that will enable the success of both the men’s and women’s team, as well as the willingness and drive to continue to develop other key aspects of the Club, such as the Academy and the vital work of the Chelsea Foundation.

“I am pleased that this research has now come to a successful conclusion. As I hand over Chelsea to their new goalkeepers, I would like to wish them the best of luck, both on and off the pitch.

That said, we have no idea what the future will look like without Abramovich, although we can at least look back on all the great things we were able to achieve, as well as the good that will be done with the billions raised. through the sale. , which are to be donated to a war relief charity.

It has been a lifetime honor to be part of this club – I would like to thank all past and current club players, staff and of course the fans for these amazing years.

I am proud that as a result of our joint successes, millions of people are now benefiting from the new charitable foundation being created. This is the legacy we created together.
